Parkersburg, WV - Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau head Steve Nicely told Wood County Commissioners Monday the area was looking good for visitors so far this year. He said all of the leading indicators from national surveys including money available for travel are up. He also said many people are waiting and not planning so early so they have been inundated with calls for brochures and information recently as the travel season is almost here.
He said occupancy and the hotel motel tax was up and they are looking forward to another great year.
The County Commission also signed a proclamation since this is National Travel and Tourism Week. Nicely in turn announced a contest "Be a Tourist in Your Own Backyard" where someone will win $1000 in local tourism items.
