Parkersburg police detectives have arrested one man for the February 1st robbery at Peoples News on Emerson Avenue in Parkersburg and have filed charges against an accomplice, an employee of the store.

According to a press release, Detectives arrested Brian Bradley Wright, charging him with felony grand larceny. Police arrested him this morning.

Detectives allege that Wright conspired with Peoples News employee Benjamin Adam Stephan, in staging the armed robbery of the business.  Wright is believed to have pointed a gun a Stephan, then leaving the business with approximately $22,000.00 in cash which the two later split.  Stephan eventually called 911 to report the robbery.

Wright is being held on a $100,000.00 bond which he could not post and is awaiting transport to the North Central Regional Jail.

Detectives are expecting Stephan to turn himself in soon on the charge of falsely reporting an emergency incident.

At the time of the original call, Stephan told police he was in the rear of the business smoking when an unknown male dressed in black and wearing a ski mask approached him.  The suspect produced a weapon, shoving him back into the building and onto the floor.  Stephan further stated that after collecting money from inside the business, the suspect struck him in the face and fled on foot.
